Wishing Others Well (WOW), the social arm of the Millennium chapel at Paceville, is set to benefit from the 19th edition of the BJ's live music marathon which kicked off at the Paceville nightclub yesterday afternoon.

Finance, Economy and Investment Minister Tonio Fenech opened the marathon which brings together all styles of music under one roof for one week.

Once again, Camilleri Wines is supporting the music marathon with its Palatino range of wines.

Among the singers and bands taking part in the marathon are Salt, Fakawi, Fire, Drive, The Myth, Carrie, Metrokween, White Crimson, Explicit, the Blues Band, the Quaks and individual musicians, such as Godwin Lucas, Harry Edelston and Nadine Axisa and Paul.

The annual event, organised by the nightclub's owner Philip Fenech, has a dual purpose: that of supporting a good cause and preserving live music as a form of entertainment. At yesterday's opening Mr Fenech said he would consider Mr Fenech's proposal for BJ's live music marathon to benefit from the government's Good Causes Fund.

To date, BJ's has raised over €280,000 (Lm120,204) for charity.

Those interested in participating can call Mr Fenech on 9949 3534 or BJ's on 2137 7642 after 10 p.m.

Donations will be collected at the door or by sending a blank message as follows: 5061 8087 to donate €4.66 (Lm2); 5061 8930 to donate €6.99 (Lm3) and 5061 9223 to donate €11.65 (Lm5).
