The first edition of the BOV Prize in Mathematics was awarded to Andrè Xuereb, a student of the Faculty of Mathematics of the University of Malta who achieved the highest marks in the subject in the fourth year of the BSc course.

Mr Xuereb was presented with a certificate by Karl Spiteri, BOV corporate branding and quality manager, in the presence of Anton Buhagiar from the Faculty of Mathematics.

Mr Spiteri explained that the aim behind the BOV Prize in Mathematics is to promote excellence in the subject and aims to reward students who work hardest and achieve the best results. "Education forms a very important part of Bank of Valletta's commitment towards the local community and is one of the main pillars within the bank's extensive community programme," he said. Prof. Buhagiar said that, through the award, held in conjunction with the Faculty of Science, the University encourages students to strive to achieve good results. "This year we managed to register some of the top marks ever achieved within the faculty."
