How very refreshing it is to receive a reply to a complaint. However, the reply from Stephen Zerafa of the Water Services Corporation (The Sunday Times, March 16), still leaves the problem of bad repairs unsolved. He did not say that he would instruct staff to do a better job.

He also states that other entities also dig up the roads. Does this mean that other firms contract out to trench for water services/repairs? If so, then their work should be quality controlled. If no work is contracted out, why would anybody trench for no reason? All the bad trenching and sunken service holes in my road lead to water service boxes. The mayor of Mosta and his councillors have not bothered to explain why they have not complained to the Water Services Corporation. Mr Zerafa states that WSC has an ongoing agreement with local councils, so reinstatement should have been called for in dozens of cases. Perhaps they are too apathetic, indolent or too tired to bother. After all, a 10-minute walk must have seemed too strenuous for them.
