Consumers move to PET

Glass bottles are piling up at Farsons, a clear sign that consumers are steadily moving to PET bottles since the derogation banning PET expired some months ago.

Farsons, like other beverage companies, will continue to offer soft drinks in glass bottles. In the meantime, glass bottles that have reached the end of their lifecycle due to extensive damage such as dirt, scratches or breakages are cleared from the market on a regular basis. Farsons is exporting all defunct glass bottles to a glass recycling plant in Italy.

A domestic collection scheme for recyclable waste should come into force on April 1 to ensure that as few PET bottles end up in the waste stream as possible.
