The Malta Rugby Football Union (MRFU) yesterday said in a statement that president Juan Borg Manduca had resigned with immediate effect. He had been at the helm since September 2006.

The decision, the MRFU said, is based purely on personal commitments.

The MRFU thanked Borg Manduca for his hard work and effort during his time as president and wished him well for the future.

The MRFU council will be announcing a replacement in the coming weeks. In the meantime, vice-president David Smith will be taking up the role of acting president.
