Malta will feature in a documentary series called The Road To Civilisation which CTTV, China's largest television network, is producing with the aim of highlighting the importance of the Mediterranean on the road to civilisation.

A five-member crew from CTTV was in Malta recently when it also interviewed the president of the Malta-China Friendship Society, Reno Calleja.

In the interview, Mr Calleja suggested that Malta should have a museum dedicated to the Maltese fishing industry that has survived thousands of years and which is part of the island's civilisation. "I gave my whole support to the film crew and agreed to be interviewed because Malta will be exposed to hundreds of millions of people when the documentary is screened," Mr Calleja said.

The crew has already been working on the documentary for three months, visiting Italy, Spain, Morocco and Tunisia apart from Malta. The first part is expected to be broadcast during the Beijing Olympics.

The handling arrangements for the film crew were made by Special Interest Travel, which is part of the Demajo Group of Companies.
