A man suffering from epilepsy was yesterday granted bail against a personal guarantee of €10,000 (Lm4,291.84) after he pleaded not guilty to seriously injuring his former partner's mother.

Ricki Goludsberough, 30, is charged with seriously injuring his former partner's mother, slightly injuring her husband and breaching the peace on Sunday at 5.30 p.m.

The court heard how Mr Goludsberough, a British national residing here, had gone to see his daughter who was at her grandparents' house when an argument broke out.

Defence lawyer Lorraine Schembri Orland said the father of her client's former partner had already known that the accused suffers from epilepsy yet had continued the fight, an argument which was instigated, she said.

Dr Schembri Orland said Mr Goludsberough was not in any condition to be remanded in custody. She, therefore, asked for bail.

Police Inspector Sandra Zammit prosecuted.
