Bayern Munich go into tomorrow's German Cup semi-final against in-form VfL Wolfsburg on the back of a two-match losing streak and with internal turmoil disrupting their preparations.

After a miserable week with defeats in the UEFA Cup by Anderlecht at home and in the Bundesliga at Energie Cottbus, Bayern face their former coach Felix Magath, whose side warmed up for the match with a 1-0 win at Werder Bremen on Sunday.

"We played arrogantly," said Bayern captain Oliver Kahn after Cottbus got off the bottom of the table with the shock 2-0 win over the league leaders.

"They were fighting for survival. But I'm not going to start worrying about our team yet."

However, Bayern - who have now lost three matches in all competitions this season - are still favourites to win the three titles they set out as their stated goal in Kahn's last season: Bundesliga, UEFA Cup and German Cup.

Even though they were blindsided by Cottbus, Bayern are five points ahead of second place Hamburg in the league and reached the UEFA Cup quarter-finals despite a 2-1 loss at home to Anderlecht on Thursday following a 5-0 win in the first leg.

But there will be no margin for error in Munich against Wolfsburg, the league's hottest team with 16 points from their last seven matches.

They also knocked Hamburg out of the German Cup in the quarter-finals with a 2-1 win in extra-time.

Bayern, meanwhile, struggled against second division side 1860 Munich, winning 1-0 in extra time to advance.

Bayern have also disrupted their preparations with internal turmoil.

Coach Ottmar Hitzfeld suspended Argentine defender Martin Demichelis "indefinitely" just hours before the Cottbus match because of insubordination - he refused to continue playing in a defensive midfield role.

Meanwhile, Magath, who won two German Cups with Bayern in his 21/2 seasons' coaching in Munich, expressed his delight at being drawn against his former team, calling it "a special draw".

In the other semi-final, Borussia Dortmund host second division side Carl Zeiss Jena today.
