Two face assault, usury charges

Ricki Goludsberough, a 30-year-old Briton residing in Attard, this morning pleaded not guilty to injuring his former partner's parents last Sunday at their home.

Defence counsel Lorraine Schembri Orland told the court that the accused went to see his daughter when an argument broke out. She said he was assaulted by the grandfather even though he knew that her client was epileptic. The grandmother was hurt when she tried to intervene.

Magistrate Antonio Mizzi granted the accused bail of €10,000.

In another case, Francis Gabriele, 64, of Qrendi, this morning was granted bail against a deposit of €2,000 and and a personal guarantee of €10,000 after he pleaded not guilty to committing usury and threatening violence against a number of persons.
