No one was injured when a light aircraft belonging to the European Flight Academy veered off the runway on landing at Luqa this afternoon.
The single piston engined Tecnam p92J aircraft ended up in the grass, sustaining damage to its undercarriage.
A spokesman for the school said the cause of the incident was not known and could have been the wind. However, the aircraft had not suffered a burst tyre, as previously thought.
The pilot was the only person on the aircraft at the time. The aircraft was on a standard flight test after having undergone a routine service.
Investigators are currently on the scene and the runway is closed.
