The Labour Party has officially issued a statement by its deputy leader, Michael Falzon, where he repeated comments he made at a press conference yesterday on the extension of polling time.
Dr Falzon pointed out that in terms of the law, all people queuing outside a polling station would have been entitled to vote, even if closing time was reached. Furthermore, the decision to extend polling time was taken exclusively by the Electoral Commission, and it had been discussing the issue even before the MLP raised it.
Dr Falzon also pointed out that the queues were longest in localities which traditionally voted Labour.
