With reference to Dermot Marshall's letter Accepting The Faith (March 8) I have a few pertinent comments to make.
I grew up in rural Ireland in the 1930s and 1940s. The population then was 98 per cent Roman Catholic. The churches were bursting at the seams but, with the exception of my own father, I cannot recall having met anyone else who inspired me, or who for me ever showed Christ to the world. My area could aptly have been called a pagan place. Religion was simply a culture. It was the introduction of the Charismatic Society which changed things, with its emphasis on the humanity of Christ for a change.
He became real for us. We could "touch" Him. Before then, He was a very distant figure and just a soporific. Young people today who have found Christ are truly God's chosen people. They will change the world.
