Staro Tonic clinches first place in Gold 1

The three races from the Gold Division races caught much of the attention at the Marsa racetrack as yesterday's meeting consisted of eight trotting events on the 2,140 metres.

Tony Demanuele and Charles Demanuele were declared as the best drivers with two wins apiece.

The Gold 1 race produced a four-way tussle for victory. Freak looked set to pass the post first but in the very last few metres it was pipped to the post by Staro Tonic, driven by Charles Camilleri, on the outside lane to sneak the win.

Carmelo Farrugia put New Kid In Town in first place with 300 metres to go of the Gold 3 race and it went on to claim victory by a six-length margin for its second successive win.

Flying Spur ,under the control of Tony Demanuele, led all the way in the Silver 3 to win by three lengths.

Andrew Farrugia's Jarnac Du Moulin increased its pace along the final straight to grab first place in Gold 5.

Jeans De Bannes, driven by Joseph Scicluna, registered a commanding victory in Silver 2.

Charles Camilleri led Jump Of Glory to an emphatic ten-length win in the Silver 4 after a strong surge in the final 150 metres.
