Nigeria qualify: Nigeria beat Ghana 2-0 yesterday in Abuja to book a place in the women's tournament at the Olympic Games in Beijing later this year. Cynthia Uwak opened the scoring in the 38th minute and made sure of top place in the African qualifying group with a second goal two minutes from time. Ghana, who finished runners-up in the group, play off against Brazil for the last place in the 16-team tournament at the Aug. 8-24 Games.

Ronaldinho: Ronaldinho was added to Barcelona's lengthy injury list ahead of the trip to Almeria in the Primera Liga on Sunday. The Brazil forward has a groin strain and was left out of the squad along with Lionel Messi, Giovani dos Santos, Deco, Yaya Toure and Rafael Marquez. Fullback Gianluca Zambrotta is suspended so coach Frank Rijkaard included three B team players for the trip south.

Hajduk split: Hajduk Split will become the first Croatian club to be privatised and its shares will also be offered to supporters. According to a new sports bill, aimed at regulating legal and financial aspects of soccer, all clubs that have debts will have to be privatised to avoid bankruptcy. Others can remain "associations of citizens" a status all Croatian sport clubs have, or they can seek an owner.
