Gretna's woes continue with 3-0 upset at Aberdeen

Gretna ended a wretched week with a 3-0 defeat at Aberdeen in the Scottish Premier League yesterday, just days after being plunged into administration.

The stricken Borders club were docked 10 points and banned from signing any players after going into administration on Wednesday in their first season in the Scottish Premier League

Chris Maguire fired a six-metre shot into the bottom right for Aberdeen's 40th minute opener and Lee Miller converted a penalty for their second in 71 minutes.

Barry Nicholson rifled in a third two minutes later.

Hibernian moved up to third with a 2-0 win over Kilmarnock thanks to goals from Filipe Morais and Steven Fletcher.

They have 47 points from 30 games but Rangers top the standings on 68 from 27.

Rangers take on Dundee United in the Scottish League Cup final this afternoon.

Celtic match postponed

Celtic were denied the chance to close the gap on leaders Rangers when their early kick-off at Motherwell was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Elsewhere, St Mirren drew 1-1 with Hearts and Inverness Caledonian Thistle lost 1-0 at home to Falkirk.
