Dr Josette Camilleri, B.Ch.D., M.Phil., recently obtained her Ph.D. from the University of Malta after successfully defending her thesis entitled 'The use of Portland cement and its modified forms as a core build-up material'.

Throughout the period of study, Dr Camilleri has worked in collaboration with the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Biomaterial Research, King's College, London, the Department of Biomaterials, Imperial College, London, the Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering, University of Malta and Heritage Malta.

The research has been supervised by Prof. Thomas Pitt Ford from King's College, London and Architect Franco E. Montesin of the Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering, University of Malta. The research was funded through a scholarship by the Association of Commonwealth Universities and by the research grant committee of the University of Malta.

Dr Camilleri is currently employed as a lecturer at the Department of Building and Civil Engineering, and the Department of Dental Surgery at the University of Malta. She is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Anthony Barbara and is married to Dr Joseph Camilleri, B.Ch.D., M.Sc. (Lond.), and has two daughters Claire and Anne.
