The baroque setting at the Valletta Waterfront has welcomed 5th Avenue of New York, a new addition to the expanding array of restaurants. It is also the fifth outlet opened after the success of 5th Avenue of New York in Sanctuary Street, Zabbar and Constitution Street, Mosta.

At the official opening was US Ambassador Molly Bordonaro. The American connection is not only with the outlet's name but also with its owner and managing director Emmanuel Darmanin, who moved to New York 40 years ago.

He is the fourth generation of baking perfection and is today an award-winning pastry chef and owner of his own New York Bakery, which supplies top class hotels and restaurants in New York.

The 'cutting of the ribbon' ceremony was followed by a brief address by Michael Cassar, financial controller, who promised patrons an unequalled delicious experience every time they visit 5th Avenue of New York outlets, adding that the emphasis is not just the taste but also the quality.
