"We are at a moment when every Christian has to look for that which distinguishes him as a Christian, his Christian identity, on a personal basis. This is important because we have to live our faith in a world that sends messages different from those of our faith. I encourage those Christians who are still near to the Church simply because they did not renounce their faith received from their parents and did not grow in it, to enter deeper into the Lord's friendship."

This is an excerpt from Archbishop Paul Cremona's pastoral letter for Lent 2007. The full text of this and 51 other speeches, homilies and messages that Mrg Cremona delivered last year have just been published in a 255-page booklet in Maltese entitled Ħejju t-Triq għall-Mulej (Prepare the Way for the Lord), on sale at €10 from bookshops and the Curia media office, Floriana (tel: 2124 1281, e-mail: info@maltadiocese.org).
