End of bank conversion period for lira
The latest date to exchange lira banknotes and coins into euro or to deposit at bank branches is March 29.
Lira banknotes can be deposited through ATMs and deposit machines or night safe facilities until March 31. The Central Bank of Malta will continue to exchange without charge Maltese lira coins until February 1, 2010 and Maltese lira banknotes until January 31, 2018. No Maltese lira banknote or coin will have any value after these dates.
Malta introduced the euro on January 1.
