United win after Ronaldo goal breaks Derby's resistance

Manchester United went top of the Premier League, at least until Arsenal play Middlesbrough later on Saturday, when they beat Derby County 1-0 at Pride Park.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored the only goal after 76 minutes to take United on to 67 points, one ahead of Arsenal who kick off against Middlesbrough at the Emirates Stadium later.

Chelsea also scored a narrow away victory, winning 1-0 at Sunderland with John Terry scoring the only goal after 10 minutes. Chelsea stay third, but move on to 64 points.

Liverpool stay in fourth on 59 points after they came from behind to beat Reading 2-1 with goals from Javier Mascherano and Fernando Torres. Portsmouth moved above Aston Villa into sixth place after beating them 2-0 at Fratton Park while West Ham United came from behind to beat Blackburn Rovers 2-1 at Upton Park.
