A man from Fgura was yesterday jailed for one month and ordered to pay €1,165 (Lm500) for violating bail conditions when he tried to contact a witness.

Magistrate Anthony Vella heard that, on Friday, Massimo Tivisini, 39, had tried to contact a witness in proceedings against him.

Mr Tivisini was originally charged with holding his former girlfriend against her will, threatening her with violence, insulting and resisting the police, offending public morals, breaching the peace and harassing her on February 18 at 7.30 a.m. He was subsequently granted bail against a personal guarantee of €1,165 (Lm500).

Police Inspectors Marisa Camilleri and Anthony Cachia prosecuted.
