A 52-year-old man was yesterday granted bail against a deposit of €500 (Lm214.59) and a personal guarantee of €5,000 (Lm2,145.92) after he pleaded not guilty to storing explosives in his garage in Naxxar.

Magistrate Anthony Vella heard Vincent Borg plead not guilty to storing explosive materials and illegally manufacturing fireworks on and before Wednesday at 6 p.m. Magistrate Vella took into consideration the fact that Mr Borg has no criminal record and the charges brought against him are considered to be contraventions. The court ordered Mr Borg not to approach the Peace Band Club and the Victoria Band Club in Naxxar and to keep away from any place where fireworks are manufactured.

Police Inspectors Elton Taliana and Nikolai Sant prosecuted.

Lawyer Edward Gatt appeared for Mr Borg.
