Vote counting at the Naxxar counting hall has been almost completed,with just two PN seats on the ninth district up for grabs.

The full results are reproduced district by district below.

The composition of the new Parliament will not be fully known for some time however.

An extra four seats have to be credited to the Nationalist Party to give it a majority of one in the 69-member House. Those seats will go to the PN candidates who were closest to being elected.

Casual elections will then have to be held to fill seats vacated by candidates elected from two districts.

Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi is expected to be sworn in this afternoon.

The elections have seen a number of candidates being elected for the first time.

They include Labour's Michael Falzon, Marlene Pullicino, Anthony Zammit, Luciano Busuttil, and Anthony Agius deCelis and the PN's Chris Said, Beppe Fenech Adami and Franco Debono,

Candidates elected from two districts include party leaders Lawrence Gonzi (2,9)and Alfred Sant (1,8) , deputy leaders Charles Mangion (4-6), Michael Falzon (2-10), Helena Dalli (2-3) Evarist Bartolo (10-12), George Vella (3-5), and Tonio Borg (8-11), Tonio Fenech (8-12) and Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando (7-11). Dolores Cristina and Robert Arrigo may also make it from two districts (9-10)
