Gonzi makes triumphant return to Castille
Lawrence Gonzi made a triumphant return to the Auberge de Castille this afternoon after having been sworn in for his second term as Prime Minister a few minutes earlier.
He arrived outside the Office of the Prime Minister amid cheers by a large crowd which had been waiting in a cold wind as he walked slowly from the Palace, greeting hundreds of supporters who lined the street.
Dr and Mrs Gonzi arrived at the top of the stairs outside Castille at 6 p.m. and stopped to take a picture with their family before entering the building.
Waiting inside were the newly-elected Nationalist MPs and the staff of the Office of the Prime Minister.
Dr Gonzi and Mrs Gonzi appeared in the building's central window within a few minutes, throwing the crowd into fresh cheers as they waved from a rostrum which enabled them to stand on the window in full view of the people who blared horns, waved flags and chanted Gonzi, Gonzi.
Dr Gonzi is this evening due to address a Nationalist Party mass meeting.

Oh my God what a title!! Wouldn't it have been more appropriate if Gonzi made a real victory with a vast majority?
Dear John Scerri, now you're asking for unity when some days ago you were one of those to be upfront to burn Labour and it's supporters? I am so sure you would have made the same plea if Labour won the elections...hehe.
Please leave us in peace and get a life. The Gonzi's pudding is still there, part of it covered in icing and part of it hidden in the closet.
We all know that you all fear that your government is weak and threatened by it's own MP's.
It's normal and obvious that Labour has to change its leadership and some policies and procedures. It would have been the same if GonziPN lost.

Congratulations Dr. Gonzi and your wife Kate for never giving up and for keeping an ambitious positive attitiude throughout . Yes.... United you stood and you both managed to overcome all odds , and I must say the odds were not a few. At face value the final result reflected a narrow majority- true fact. no one can deny this. When one considers that Dr.Gonzi managed to win over a sea of oppositions AN,AD, hunters issues, non voters, voters whose interest was their own wellbeing and not that of their nation, a long term in power, voters who were fed up of seeing the same faces for a so long, splinter groups, constant opposition media thumping on corruption issues on a daily basis for years and finally the oppositon in parliament whose role is to critisize and keep the Govt on the alert. The Proof of the pudding........ The proof of Dr.Gonzi's 'pudding' were the results obtained during his four year term as PM. So.... succeeding to win under these conditions is already a great victory . The aftermaths of this victory leading to three party leaders resignations, voting off of well established candidates from both sides but especially from PN group is giving a clear message by the people that a new beginning is really needed where administration is concerned . As for the opposition ....I would say YES a new beginning is also needed here ...in being a constructive , proactive, flexible, non militant group with the aim to offer a serious alternative to the party in government next term . Opposition will be more credible by helping out in the improvement of this wonderful nation of ours than by saying no all the time. Congratulations goes also to all the elected opposition members . Let us all start a New Beginning. Let us all, whether in parliament or in the streets become a mature respectful nation , Let's work together for each other's benefits. Let's all be altruistic in what we do and say. May this election serve as a lesson to everyone that we are ALL equal and whoever trys to segregate us by race ,colour , creed or by any other form has no place in this nation. We are strong when we are united as ONE whole nation and our history proves this.
