The Malta FA yesterday accepted a request by four Premier League clubs to reschedule two Championship Pool matches due to have been played this evening at the National Stadium.
With celebrations for the Nationalist Party's victory in the general election expected to reach a climax this evening, Sliema Wanderers, Birkirkara, Valletta and Hamrun Spartans saw it fit to ask the local football governing body to move today's fixtures to another date.
A statement by the Malta FA yesterday said that the two matches, Sliema Wanderers vs Birkirkara and Valletta vs Hamrun Spartans, will now take place on Thursday at the National Stadium, kicking off at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. respectively.
The two top-flight matches scheduled for tomorrow at the Centenary Stadium, Mqabba vs Pietà Hotspurs (6 p.m.) and Floriana vs Marsaxlokk (8 p.m.), have been shifted to the National Stadium.
This change of venue was necessary after two Division Two fixtures planned for today at the Centenary Stadium - Sta Venera Lightnings-San Gwann and Mgarr-Lija - were also postponed until tomorrow.
Revised fixtures
Tomorrow (National Stadium) - 6 p.m. Mqabba vs Pietà; 8 p.m. Floriana vs Marsaxlokk.
Thursday (National Stadium) - 6 p.m. Sliema vs Birkirkara; 8 p.m. Valletta vs Hamrun.
