Labour MP Roderick Galdes had been re-elected from the sixth district, on the 11th count. He won 1,634 first count votes, a massive increase on thee 359 of five years ago, when he was elected for the first time. Mr Galdes was the Labour spokesman on Mepa in the last Parliament.

His election means that four of the five parliamentary seats on the sixth district have now been taken. Labour MPs Marie-Louise Coleiro and Charles Mangion and Nationalist MP John Dalli were elected earlier.

The final seat is expected to go to Nationalist MP Clyde Puli.
