A van packed with Chinese rural migrant workers collided with a truck in the country's north yesterday, killing 10, state media reported.

The van was licensed to carry eight people but had 14 on board when it slammed into a coal truck in Hebei province, the Xinhua news agency reported.

The van owner has been held by police for investigation.
