Public swimming pool in Gozo
More electoral promises for Gozitans: whom to believe?
With regard to the proposed public swimming pool in Gozo, let me point out that this was promised by the Nationalist Party back in 1991. After 17 years we are still waiting for this amenity.
There are two attractive possibilities for locating the pool: either within the existing sports complex, or integrated with the newly constructed secondary school premises in the area.
Those who wish to make use of this facility to exercise, or others who only want to swim, could conveniently do this if the pool were built in Victoria. Even schoolchildren can benefit from such a swimming pool. As Alternattiva Demokratika has been saying all along, if Malta already has two national pools, then Gozo deserves one.
Given the suitability of the Otters Waterpolo Club for training purposes, Gozitans would benefit from the provision of both facilities, were this scheme to be pursued.
Let us hope that action will be taken without delay.

This scheme should definately be persued as everyone in Gozo would benefit. I would suggest that it would be an indoor pool as it can be used all year round. Once it is in place, swimming could be included into the educational curriculum where students could be thought how to swim properly.
