'All together now' is a training course that was hosted in Malta last month by local NGO TDM 2000 Malta. The aim of the course is to empower youth leaders in developing strategies to spread awareness on human rights among youngsters.
Other aims were to share information about different realities in human rights issues, learn new tools and methodologies in working with youngsters in human rights education, and improve organisational and management skills in the implementation of international projects.
Participating countries included Lithuania, Slovenia, Kosovo, Latvia, Macedonia, Turkey, Serbia, Albania, Sardinia, Germany, and Malta.
Through the course, participants improved their understanding and knowledge of human rights education, increased their problem-solving skills and raised debate on specific issues relevant to the involved countries on the basis of non-formal education.
Two trainers - Angelica Perra and Gianluca Massimiliano Frongia, from Sardinia, used the COMPASS Manual on Human Rights throughout the programme. The participants also experienced human rights first hand by taking part in a number of intensive workshops, each having a different theme: gender issues, sexual health and immigration.
Five Maltese participated, namely the president and vice-president of TDM 2000 Malta, Duncan Muscat and Lisa Martin. Nicola Spiteri, Petra Galea Debono and Ylenia Rosso are the other three participants and members of TDM 2000 Malta.
