President Eddie Fenech Adami cast his vote shortly before noon at the primary school in his home town Birkirkara.

Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi voted earlier in Marsascala and Dr Sant voted just before 2 p.m., also at Birkirkara primary school.

Dr Gonzi and Mrs Gonzi voted just after 10 a.m. in the same polling station where Azzjoni Nazzjonali leader Josie Muscat votes an hour earlier.

Alternattiva Demokratika leader Harry Vassallo cast his ballot in Sliema.

The Archbishop also voted in Sliema earlier this morning.

Voting is proceeding calmly, with a few short queues reported in some localities, mostly in the harbour area.

Party personnel have taken up station just outside the buffer zone of each polling station, chatting quietly and noting goings on.

Party leaders, meanwhile, have been going round party clubs in Malta and Gozo to thank and encourage their supporters.
