The Department of Health Promotion and Disease Prevention said today that two suspected linked cases of scarlet fever in children have been reported in Gozo.

The necessary public health measures are being taken and there is no need for alarm, the department said.

Last January the department reported five cases of scarlet fever in children, also in Gozo. There were just nine cases of scarlet fever between 1997 and last June.
