A man who was jailed for one year after he was found guilty of stealing over €2,329.27 (Lm1,000) from an elderly woman's house had his jail term reduced to three years probation.
Philip Camilleri had been found guilty of breaking into Maria Mangiafico house in Ħamrun on June 5, 2005 at about 2.30 p.m. and was jailed for one year.
After filing an appeal on grounds that the punishment was excessive and because this had been his first crime, Mr Justice David Scicluna reduced the sentence to three years probation.
