Medical specialist

I was very disappointed to read the article Disabled Doctor Claims Breach Of Rights (March 5), claiming that Naged Megally's application to be included in the register of specialists was rejected.

I personally know Dr Megally as he was my specialist for three pregnancies. He is an extremely professional and dedicated specialist, continuously going out of his way to help his patients. His dedication to his work is really outstanding so I do think that the decision of the Committee for the Approval of Specialists to refuse his application is unfair and discriminatory.

I never felt that his condition was limiting his activities and profession. In my opinion as a patient, I think he should be included in the register of specialists. We should encourage people like Dr Megally to further their profession especially when they are at such a high level of specialisation.

Therefore, I hope that the committee will review their decision and not let Dr Megally go through the ordeal of lengthy legal actions.
