We have in the past covered the work of the largely-youthful Għargħur theatre company Dwal Ġodda. And we are pleased to do so again. On March 16 the company will be presenting Ġrieħi on a temporary stage set up on the Għargħur church parvis. The piece by Martin Gauci will attempt to relate Christ's passion to contemporary events in today's society.
The play commences at 5 p.m. on the parvis, where the first act will take place. Thereafter the cast - together with their audience - proceed through the streets and lanes of the village, where the rest of the play will be enacted. This original approach to this time-honoured story is typical of a theatre group that constantly strives to put on new and challenging work.
Oh, just one thing: the producers recommend to their audience that, depending on the weather, comfortable and warm clothing should be the order of the day.
Entrance is free.
