UPDATED: MLP says Mistra contract bears Pullicino Orlando's signature
The Labour Party said today it was publishing the contract for the lease of land at Mistra belonging to Nationalist MP Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando for development of a nightclub/disco.
The contract is dated January 17,2008 and bears the signature of Dr Pullicino Orlando, the MLP said. It shows the intended use of the land as a disco.
This. the party said, was the clearest proof yet that the land at Mistra not only belonged to Pullicino Orlando but that he was fully aware that it would be developed as a disco.
Dr Pullicino Orlando in a reaction said this was not a contract for the development of a disco but the contract of lease of the land. This document, he said, did not show any corruption as the MLP had alleged.
Dr Pullicino Orlando said he had a meeting with the Police Commissioner this morning and had given him a copy of this document because he had nothing to hide.

The point is not whether Jeffrey knew about the application or not.
Alfred Sant accused Jeffrey of Corruption when he said that (quoting from the Times on 1st March) "Dr Sant said he was sure money had changed hands over the matter."
This is the crux of the matter which, surprisingly, everybody in Malta seems to have completely missed.
Sant accuses Jeffrey of corruption not of applying for development permit.
Anyone can agree or disagree with the project. But does Sant have any proof that Jeffrey paid somebody to have the permit issued?? He has not shown any proof of this!
