Simply spin!
The Nationalists have been in government for 10 years now and another 10 years before 1996. Did they introduce taxes on health? No.
The MLP was in government between 1996 and 1998, did they introduce taxes on health? Yes!
That's it! End of story! The rest is simply spin!

Shaun is one of many who simply have no idea what the VAT replaced. Secondly how come Shaun does not remember when the 18% VAT was replaced with a 29% CET ?
Not a 3% jump - it was in some cases an increase of 11%.
Some cheek! What about tax on medicine and doctors' certificates? Dr. Sant explained that the tax on medicine was to control abuse by the patients. So, does that mean that doctors were also abusing the issue of certificates? If that was a problem would not the employers have questioned the frequency of these certificates and done something about it?
I am positive that Mr. Zero Tolerance would have boldly stepped in and put the doctors to shame!
It's funny - the NP always looks to the future but the MLP always looks at the past. The problem is that this same MLP jealously hides its past.
Maybe it is to ashamed of it?
