The editorial on Tuesday accused Azzjoni Nazzjonali of xenophobia.

AN does not want viewers one day to see on their TV screens what has happened in Paris, London and Madrid. AN does not want Malta one day to have no-go areas occupied by ethnic groups. Its size does not allow it that luxury.

AN does not want Maltese citizens to have to fear boarding public transport, or visiting discos, clubs and restaurants. Christian tolerance in those cities did not save them from third generation terrorism. To ensure that we do not follow the pattern forced upon all other European countries, AN wants the incoming immigrant flow to be halted. Malta is too fragile a unit to keep on adding numbers to numbers. The editorial had lots to criticise but, like the other parties and organisations, offered no remedies.

AN was determined to put the immigrant problem on the political agenda when it would have been wiser for it to be politically correct and play the three monkeys: I no see, I no hear, I no speak.

Judging by the editorial of The Times it has succeeded.
