Chaudron recognised by P1 for 2007 achievements

Last weekend, Maltese boat builder Chaudron Powerboats was presented with the coveted Powerboat P1 SuperSport Manufacturer of the Year award at the annual Powerboat P1 World Championship Awards Dinner, held in London.

It was a fitting reward for the company's achievements in winning the 2007 Powerboat P1 World Championship against some of the world's top boat manufacturers.

Charlie Ciantar, Managing Director of Chaudron Powerboats, was at hand to collect the trophy from P1's Sales and Marketing Director, Robert Wicks.

"It is a big feat to be on top of the world and an honour to be recognised by P1 for our achievements," an ecstatic Ciantar said.

"Malta is a small country and we are a small boat builder competing against the top boat builders in Europe and United States. To beat them is a great success but it has not been achieved overnight.

"Many years of effort and experience have gone into developing our products and this has been a true team effort for all the family and everyone associated with Chaudron Powerboats. We are very proud to be in London tonight at this special awards evening surrounded by trophies. It's a good feeling."

Further honours were to fall upon the Chaudron owner during the course of the evening. Mercury Racing, the 2007 SuperSport Engine Manufacturer of the Year, presented its trophy to Ciantar in recognition of his decision to use their engines and for the work he has undertaken to ensure that the hull/engine combination was a "world beater".

The Powerboat P1 World Championship season will start in May in Italy and conclude in the Middle East in October, with the 2008 P1 Maltese Grand Prix of the Sea taking place over the weekend of June 6-8.
