A 24-year-old man was yesterday remanded in custody after pleading not guilty to threatening his former girlfriend with a knife and assaulting police officers.

Magistrate Doreen Clarke heard Rennie Gauci of Cospicua plead not guilty to assaulting and resisting police officers on Sunday afternoon, slightly injuring a policeman, threatening his former girlfriend with a knife, causing damage to the front door of her house, throwing objects from a window, breaching the peace and shouting obscenities. He also pleaded not guilty to relapsing.

Police Inspector Jesmond Borg prosecuted.

Lawyer Owen Bonnici appeared for Mr Gauci.
