Antonella Chouhal set a national discus record during Athletics Malta's Aggregate Meeting at the Matthew Micallef St John track in Marsa on Saturday.

Chouhal produced an impressive throw of 41.24 metres to shatter her own previous record of 40.75 metres, set during an aggregate meeting on April 14 last year.

Meanwhile, sprinters Darren Gilford and Martina Xuereb will represent Athletics Malta at next weekend's world indoor championships, to be staged in Valencia, Spain.

Gilford is scheduled to compete in the 60 metres heats while Martina Xuereb will be running in the 400m event.
