The police are holding two teenagers aged 17 and 19 after they allegedly stole a motorcycle which they were riding when it was involved in a crash with a car in St Julians early yesterday morning.

The police said they were informed at about 2.30 a.m. that a traffic accident had just occurred at Ix-Xatt ta' San Ġorġ, in St George's Bay. Investigations by the Mobile Squad indicated that a Kymco motorcycle had crashed against a Chevrolet Matiz. Nobody was injured but a 17-year-old from Siġġiewi who was driving the motorcycle attempted to escape when he spotted the police heading his way. He was, however, restrained by the officers.

The motor cycle was stolen a short while earlier, the police said.
