Labour leader Alfred Sant said today said that he found nothing wrong in the tax declarations of Mirca Properties Ltd, a company co-owned by Labour Deputy Leader Charles Mangion and former Tourism Minister Karmenu Vella and everything was acceptable to the Inland Revenue Department..

Responding to public allegations made by Nationalist MP Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando last week, accusing the two MPs of making false declarations of income from rented property for several years, Dr Sant said he had seen all the documents presented about this case and it resulted that the company mentioned paid all its dues to the satisfaction of the Inland Revenue Department.

Both Labour MPs have filed a libel suit over the allegations.

Dr Sant was also asked at a press conference at MLP headquarters iif he found anything wrong in the fact that his deputy, Michael Falzon last week lunched with construction magnate Charles Polidano, known as Ic-Caqnu, just 12 hours after the MLP criticised a permit issued by Mepa to Mr Polidano.

‘Nothing wrong in this.....I hope it was a good meal', Dr Sant replied with a smile.

Dr Sant said that a Labour government would not tolerate any form of corruption. He asked if the Prime Minister would refer the Pullicino Orlando case to the Police Commissioner

Looking back at the proposals made by the MLP during the electoral campaign, Dr Sant reiterated that his party would boost the economy and assure good governance and transparency.

He said that Labour would half the surcharge on utility bills from the first week in government and would launch various regional projects to boost tourism.

A Labour would also effectively control inflation .
