Rangers go four points clear after 3-1 win

Rangers beat Aberdeen 3-1 in the Scottish Premier League yesterday to move four points clear of champions Celtic, who won 2-0 at Hibernian.

Rangers have 68 points from 27 games while Celtic are second on 64.

Stuart Lovell put Aberdeen ahead after 28 minutes with a header into the roof of the net from 12 metres following a cross by Dutch midfielder Jeffrey de Visscher.

Rangers levelled with a neat flick-shot from Christian Dailly following a corner by Charlie Adam seven minutes from the interval.

Adam glanced in a close range header on 50 minutes for 2-1 and striker Kris Boyd hit the third from the penalty spot in the 83rd, netting the rebound after Aberdeen keeper Derek Soutar parried.

Defender Lee Naylor scored his first goal for Celtic on 64 minutes and substitute Georgios Samaras grabbed the second 10 minutes later with a powerful header from Aiden McGeady's inviting cross.

Kilmarnock moved above relegation rivals St Mirren with a first half goal from Jamie Hammill.

Inverness Caledonian Thistle slumped to a 3-0 home defeat against Hearts, Falkirk drew 0-0 with Motherwell and Gretna's clash with Dundee United was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
