Labour leader Alfred Sant said this afternoon that his party has more documents showing corruption in the PN government, but they could not be revealed because that would endanger the livelihood of the persons who had leaked the information.

Speaking at an MLP mass meeting at the Luxol Ground in Pembroke, Dr Sant said corruption was rampant and a Labour government would, as a priority move a Whistleblowers' Act to protect people who revealed corruption.

Dr Sant also hit out at Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi, saying he was continuing to defend ministers against whom corruption claims had been made.

Other speakers at the mass meeting included MLP deputy leader Charles Mangion who said he had instituted libel proceedings against Nationalist MP Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando over allegations he made on non disclosure of income by a company co-owned by Dr Mangion and Labour MP Karmenu Vella.

Dr Sant in his speech kept up his attack on Dr Pullicino Orlando.

"Pullicino Orlando should be honest and have the decency to accept what's on black on white. Which fool believes that he never knew about the (development) application?" Dr Sant asked.

He added that the architect involved in this application was Paul Camilleri, the cousin of Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi, who was also involved in a number of government projects and part of the inner circle.

Dr Sant dedicated quite a bit of his speech to the two reports Labour had revealed, where, he said, the government had, in 2004 and 2005, discussed introducing charges on healthcare.

"Love us or hate us, we will continue to say the truth," he said, giving a guarantee that if his party was voted into power healthcare services would remain free.
