Thomas Smith Group recently had its new branch offices in Luqa inaugurated by Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi. The new office houses the group's freight forwarding division and new insurance brokerage company.

The landmark corner building on War Victims Square has been extensively refurbished to the highest modern standards over the past year. It is located across Malta International Airport, close to the industrial zone, Malta Freeport, Marsa and a few minutes' drive from the Ħal Far Groupage Depot.

As most freight forwarding business is centred in this area, customers will find the new location convenient. Access and parking, even with large haulage vehicles, is easy and the location makes reaching the offices for collecting or dropping paper work fast and easy.

Thomas Smith Insurance Agency Ltd will continue to operate from the company's head office in St Christopher Street, Valletta, together with the group's administration, finance, port agency services division, travel agency and navigational charts and publication supplies.

Residents of Luqa, Gudja, Għaxaq and surrounding localities will find the one-stop insurance shop convenient and practical. Thomas Smith Insurance Brokers provides all classes of insurance including home, motor, business, travel, health, marine and life assurance from a variety of insurance underwriters.

During this first year of operation, clients issuing a new policy or renewing their existing policy will automatically be part of a competition and can win a cruise for two, including flights and taxes.

Dr Gonzi congratulated the company on its 160th anniversary and hailed the company's initiative to organise a blood donation drive among staff and clients as an example of social corporate responsibility.

"There has never been a wider range of services and options available to the client via Thomas Smith Group and, having decided to branch out of Valletta for better customer convenience, we looked to find a location that was easily accessible for our freight forwarding clients," said Joe Gerada, the group's.

"Accessibility was one a main priority and the site looked good from the start. Moreover, with the new insurance brokerage company set up in March last year, it was also ideal to house this company in separate but accessible offices.

Thomas Smith Freight operates between 7.30 a.m. and 5.30 p.m., Monday to Friday, while the company's insurance office opens 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., also Monday to Friday, and between 9 a.m. and noon on Saturday.
