Attard, Walsh first runners home in Attard 10k

The Attard Athletics Club ( www.attardac.com ) recently held their annual 10km race in the town's vicinities. An encouraging field of entries and a host of sponsors made the 2008 edition of this popular road running event another success.

The main protagonists on the day were Robert Attard and Carol Walsh who finished first in their respective categories. Attard won the men's race in 32.54 minutes and Walsh was the top woman with a time of 38.05 minutes.

Attard was followed home by Mario Pisani (33.25), Kevin Zammit (33.58), Gerald Grech (34.54), Andrè Mifsud (35.36) and Simon Lee (36.15).

Giselle Camilleri (39.17) was runner-up in the women's race and Carmel Hili third (39.46).

The first Attard AC members home in the 10km race were Noel Caruana, Philip Farrugia, Joseph Said, Ray Vella, Tano Mallia and Manwel Bezzina.

In a statement, the club said they had received positive comments on the race organisation and are looking forward to hosting the event again next year.

They thanked the athletes, sponsors, Police, Attard Scout Group and all those who helped in the running of the race.
