Nature Trust meets MLP

A delegation from Nature Trust Malta met Malta Labour Party officials to discuss environmental issues.

Nature Trust said it appreciated that the MLP's proposals in fact included environmental issues and was very happy to note that political parties like the MLP were giving more importance to the environment in this election.

The urgent need to reform Mepa was stressed during the meeting as was the fact that the environment needed to be given more consideration in the decision making process.

The NGO highlighted the fact that environmental projects presented by NGOs were often taking too long to be approved by Mepa at times risking that funds would be lost due to strict deadlines from donors such as the EU.

Party president Stefan Zrinzo led the MLP delegation.
