Two accused of San Gwann murder

A 15-year-old girl who was arraigned in court this afternoon in connection with the murder of Tereza Sciberras, 50 of San Gwann was, and still is, living a nightmare, her defence counsel told a court.

The girl, whose name cannot be revealed because she is a minor, used to be told by the victim to go and buy her cocaine and cannabis, defence counsel Joseph Giglio said.

Last Tuesday (when the murder took place) the girl refused to buy the drugs but the victim still got her hands on cocaine, Dr Giglio said.

He asked the court for the girl to be taken to Mt Carmel Hospital for assessment, arguing that incarceration would cause her mental state to deteriorate.

The girl was arraigned along with 31-year-old mini bus driver, Robert Zahra. Both were accused of having shot and stabbed the woman on Monday-Tuesday night as well as drug trafficking and possession.

The court directed that the girl be taken to Mt Carmel Hospital while Mr Zahra was remanded in custody.
