The cooperation forum will represent a platform to identify, discuss and develop joint strategic ICT research projects of mutual benefit to the EU and Japan. It is co-organised by the European Commission, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Ministry of Foreign Affaires (MOFA). Event will be held in Tokyo, Japan.

March 4 Territorial dialogue 2008
An event co-organised by the Slovenian presidency of the EU and the Committee of the Regions will discuss how local and regional levels contribute to the Lisbon agenda, while a roundtable discussion will deal with cohesion policy and the Lisbon Agenda. An introduction will be made by Danuta Hübner, European Commissioner for Regional Policy. Event will be held in Brdo pri Kranju, Slovenia

March 11-14 Institutional capacities and learning for sustainable development
This event, organised by the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration, will focus on institutional aspects of sustainable development evaluations as policy learning processes. It will also explore how different evaluation tools and approaches contribute to knowledge-based governance for sustainable development. Event will be in Vienna.

March 26 Financial markets seminar
The European Journalism Centre is organising, in cooperation with DG Economic and Financial Affairs of the European Commission, a one-day information briefing for financial journalists coming from the eurozone as well as from the opt-out member states. The briefing will mainly focus on forecasts, surveys and fiscal surveillance. Event will be held in Frankfurt.

March 27-28 Eurozone data: Issues and implications for economic analysis
The ninth workshop of the Euro Area Business Cycle network (EABCN), hosted by the University of Cambridge, will discuss methodological issues such as the aggregation of data from across the eurozone, and the use of real-time data and the impacts these can have on economic analysis.

March 31 - April 3 European wind energy conference
The event is intended to attract business leaders, scientists and policymakers, offering them an opportunity to interact, exchange information and influence the legislative process. The conference will be chaired by EU Energy Commissioner Andris Piebalgs, while the programme will focus on the goal of building a secure, sustainable and competitive energy supply. Event will be held in Brussels.

April 16-17 Conference: European perspectives on innovation and policy
A conference on European perspectives on innovation and policy will be held in Stockholm, Sweden. The event, which is organised by the EU-funded VISION Era-Net project, will focus on the challenges of open innovation for policy-makers and new directions in national innovation policy governance structures. The conference should facilitate interaction between researchers, policymakers, and research funding officers.

April 24-25 ECB Conference: A Strategic vision for statistics: Challenges for the next 10 years
This fourth ECB conference on statistics will consider the role of statistics in monetary and other economic policy-making, the future directions for collecting and compiling statistical data, and future avenues for cooperation between the ECB and the European Commission. ECB President Jean-Claude Trichet and EU Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs, Joaquin Almunia will contribute to the conference. Event will be held in Frankfurt.

May 14-15 Economic and Monetary Union in Europe: 10 years on
To mark the 10th anniversary of the launch of EMU, this year's Brussels Economic Forum will take the experiences, challenges and successes of the first decade of EMU as its topic. Speakers will include EU leaders and economists who were involved in the preparations for EMU.

May 26-28 EU external cooperation in action
The European Journalism Centre, at the initiative of EuropeAid, is organising a three-day intensive briefings in order to give media professionals a clearer understanding of external cooperation policies. Event will be held in Brussels.
