Sant sued over Good Causes Fund claim

The Parliamentary Secretary at the Finance Ministry, Tonio Fenech, yesterday filed a libel suit against Labour Leader Alfred Sant over allegations of maladministration of money from the Good Causes Fund.

In a statement to the media, the Department of Information said Dr Sant had alleged that money from the fund had been used to publish a book on culture and the aim behind this manoeuvre was one of corruption. Mr Fenech categorically denied these allegations and clarified that a contribution had been made to Miranda Publications for the purchase of 800 copies of a publication at the reduced price of €29.12 (Lm12.50), instead of €115.30 (Lm49.49), for distribution to libraries and embassies and during official occasions.
